Shine On

It can be a splash of color or a splash of...gloss? Wet Shine fabrics of all varieties are splattering onto the runway - from leather to charmeuse to polyurethane. Shine on, ladies!

Luxe, Plush and Lovely

The somewhat surprising resurgence of velvet on the runway is showing another vaguely ninteties reference for Fall. I always found velvet to be a difficult fabric to update, but these designers know how to make it look amazing!

Militario

There's no denying it; the military jacket has exploded onto the fashion scene this season. It is ubiquitous, and if you don't have one already...well I would get working on it!

Here are a few of my favorites. Click on any designer's name to see their full runway show.

Rein 'Er In!

It's a bit of a capsule trend, but it's one of my favorites of the season: the equestrienne. It fits in perfectly with the tailored, menswear inspired theme of Fall, but with the added flair of riding gear and horse related imagery.

You don't have to actually be a dressage expert, but it sure looks good to dress like one!

Skirting the Issue

It's anything goes for skirts this fall; Long, short, and everything in between! There's been a special resurgence of the below the knee/mid calf length that should be noted, but it was by no means the only length to be seen. The short and full skirt is an important silhouette as well.

Here are my favorites!

Blocked Out

Fabric blocking, color blocking, even fur blocking...this trend has been around for a few seasons already, but it's still proving its worth on the runway.

Pieced Together

Deconstructed tailoring with a masculine edge is making a strong appearance on the runway for Fall. Fresh and clean!

Wrapped up, belted and tied around, there are many lovely bows and ribbons to choose from showing up for the Fall.

Smells Like Teen Spirit

To follow up on my last post, I went on a hunt for 90's inspired silhouettes in the Fall Runway shows. There is no look left unaddressed from that once shunned fashion era! Styles run the gamut from the little flowery dress to grungy plaid to slinky spaghetti strap dresses and lace. Courtney Love should be proud...
