Pieced Together

Deconstructed tailoring with a masculine edge is making a strong appearance on the runway for Fall. Fresh and clean!

Smells Like Teen Spirit

To follow up on my last post, I went on a hunt for 90's inspired silhouettes in the Fall Runway shows. There is no look left unaddressed from that once shunned fashion era! Styles run the gamut from the little flowery dress to grungy plaid to slinky spaghetti strap dresses and lace. Courtney Love should be proud...

Sharing Is Caring

Sirianne, Zoe & Veronika

If you're wondering why these ladies look so nice together, it's because they're all wearing each other's clothes. Sometimes to find the greatest look you need to look no further than your friend's closet!

There's a nineties vibe going on here, and it's perfectly in tune with the Spring exuberance in the air (now that winter is finally over). So get out your denim jacket and your flowery dresses because Blossom is back!

Sorry I couldn't help it . . .

In The Hood

To build on the post of Erin from a few days ago, I thought I'd call out some stylish hoods from the Fall collections. Whether they're tied up, draped down or just pure volume they are a mysterious and attractive look.

Caught on Camera

Teresa (Gallery Director) & Me
Heist Gallery, 3/11/2010

A shot from the opening of a photography show last week; Dustin Wayne Harris' "Cake Mixx." I found this in an article about the show, and had to share!

I still don't know what brand my circle scarf is, but I got it on Bedford Ave. at Mini Market and it's ultra-soft, without being too hot. It's a great color for the transition in to spring too!

Lorimer Stop, L Train, Brooklyn

Erin, Graphic Designer
Even though she looks great in it, Erin told me she's looking forward to not having to wear her hood anymore. Hopefully after today, she won't have to...

I love the simple military look of this coat; it's a trend that's been noticed on all fronts for both Spring and Fall this year. Fatigue coats are selling out everywhere, but there's some beautiful ones to be found at the flea or thrift store.

But the BEST part is the shoes! I love these shoes so much, they were the first thing I noticed on Erin, and it must have been fate that drew me to them because it turns out they're a label I've been stalking for months. Check it out: Osborn Shoes, all made in Guatemala using fair trade and locally sourced materials. It can't get any better than that!

Soho Stripes

I found this girl sitting in front of the Prada flagship store in Soho. I love this coat from Zara; it's the perfect weight for the fake-Spring weather we've had this week. Lightweight and long, not to mention great stripes and trench styling!

Blanket Statement

Who knew taking that old beautiful blanket from your grandparents' cabin and wearing it could look so good? These unique pieces are popping up everywhere; woolly Navajo inspired wools and Latin American looking weaves. Next place I'd look for them is the runway...

I See You (In 3D)

Yes, in honor of last night's Academy Awards, I am calling out a significant Avatar-inspired theme in the fall runway shows. McQueen started it with his super-futuristic Spring 2010 show, and now, thanks to the popularity of Avatar, this techno-ethnic look is more relevant than ever.

Cool & Collected

Enjoying a sunny Saturday afternoon, Chrissy looks cool in her Brooklyn Industries jacket and American Apparel scarf. She says she got the shoes in some no-name boutique in Providence, but that just makes us want them more!

Steve Madden has some great Oxfords; shop for them here.

If you love her sunglasses, check out similar vintage frames here.

It's only a snippet of a photo, but I thought this skirt was wonderful! It's a preview of the long hems coming in as a big trend this Spring. See Below for a couple of my favorites.
